Ukraine Escalates Tensions: Strikes Russia with Storm Shadow and ATACMS Missiles

Ukraine used British-supplied Storm Shadow missiles to strike targets within Russian territory, following its deployment of U.S.-made ATACMS missiles a day earlier. The attacks occurred in the Kursk region, bordering northeastern Ukraine, and were widely reported by Russian war correspondents.

This marks an escalation in the conflict as Ukraine leverages Western weaponry for deep strikes into Russian territory, which Moscow perceives as a serious threat. Amid these developments, the U.S. temporarily closed its embassy in Kyiv, announced $275 million in military aid, and forgave $4.7 billion in Ukrainian loans.

These actions come as the Biden administration nears the end of its term, aiming to maximize support for Kyiv.
