As the 2024–25 UEFA Champions League continues to unfold, the competition's new format has intensified the drama, and six teams have already been knocked out. These teams, which finished in the bottom eight spots of the league phase, will not advance to the knockout stages of the prestigious European tournament.

The six eliminated clubs are:

  • Crvena zvezda (Red Star Belgrade)
  • Sturm Graz
  • RB Leipzig
  • Slovan Bratislava
  • Young Boys
  • Bologna

These clubs, after struggling in the highly competitive league phase, now face an early exit from European football for the remainder of the season. The league phase, which replaced the traditional group stage, saw each of the 36 participating teams play eight matches against different opponents, adding new excitement to the tournament.

Teams finishing in the top eight advance directly to the Round of 16, while those ranked 9th to 24th will enter a playoff round to secure one of the remaining eight spots in the knockout stage. However, the clubs that finish 25th to 36th are automatically eliminated, as happened with the aforementioned teams.

This change in format has created a more dynamic structure for the Champions League, providing more competitive fixtures and increasing unpredictability for teams and fans alike. The heightened competition ensures that every match matters, making the journey to the knockout stages even more thrilling.

With the new structure already shaking up the tournament, the Champions League is setting the stage for a new level of excitement, as the top teams battle for European glory.
